The History of Thanksgiving

Dear Lord,

As we gather together around this table
laden with your plentiful gifts to us,
we thank You for always providing
what we really need
and for sometimes granting wishes
for things we don’t really need.
Today, let us be especially thankful
for each other–for family and friends
who enrich our lives in wonderful ways,
even when they present us with challenges.
Let us join together now
in peaceful, loving fellowship
to celebrate Your love for us
and our love for each other. Amen.

The most precious thing is that we have a God that loves us and will forgive our short comings and grant us eternal life if we believe and have faith in Him and follow his instructions from the Holy Bible. I am most Thankful.

  3. Thanksgiving is a very special way of thanking God for all the blessings he has blessed us with. The gathering of families get together on this special day reminds me of The last Supper when Jesus and His disciples shared the meal together. Happy Thanksgiving to all communities have a blessed Day.!!

Yeah. Thanksgiving has always been very American which is sad because there are things about Thanksgiving that can be celebrated by any nationality. However to answer your question about where does Christmas fit I can only say that Christmas comes a month later and is another time for family and friends to gather and celebrate unity, freedom, love and peace over a happy occasion. I hope that helps

We have so much to be gratefull for in life. Why do so many folks take our freedoms for granet–A price was paid and we all should be thankfull to our Lord Jesus for his sacrifice. He is our contact and hope for eternal Life with our creator. We have so much ungodlyness around us today, as Satain is on a rampage to destroy all that is holy and godly in our world. We followers should make it a point to stay ready for His return which could happen at any time. God Bless America

I thank you for sharing this history. Though I could not watch the video, the prayer inspired me to always remember the GOd that we serve, who says as a woman cannot forget a child she breastfeads, more to our God who will always provide for us-God the provider. He does it for His own Glory.

    Enjoy the thanksgiving seasson.

I want to also thank you for sharing the history, Thanksgiving tradition are something that this country has for got i think ,with busy lives people live they forget why we have holidays it is for our Father to thank him but also for are family and friends and teaching our children about the true meaning of the holidays . Thank you .I have carryed my family tradetion on in my family but this genaration has there own ways . It brakes my heart .

  18. Rose Etima says:

I appreciate all your Thanksgiving’s inspiration. But the question where Christmas fits is- Christmas reminds us of God our loving Father’s forgiving heart. After man’s sin of disobedience, he gave us his begotten Son Jesus to redeem us back to Him. He never abandon us. We are to be very grateful for that. May God’s blessings be with you.
