Volunteering Your Way To Better Health

A stronger community is not the only benefit of volunteering.

Studies have shown that people who volunteer are overall more physically and mentally fit than those who don’t, thus, “Happier and Healthier”.

Thomas Sander, executive director of the Saguaro Seminar at Harvard University has stated “Civic Engagement and volunteering is the new hybrid health club for the 21st century that’s free to join!”

Research shows it miraculously improves not only one’s health but also the community’s through the work performed and the social ties built.”

In this video, John Tesh shares about the chemical reaction that occurs in the body when someone gives of themselves despite the multiple obligations at home, education, marital status, age, gender, and ethnicity.

Each year, the Corporation for National and Community Service provides opportunities for more than 2 million Americans of all ages and backgrounds to serve their communities and country through Senior Corps, AmeriCorps and Learn and Serve America.

Proverbs 11:24-25
One man gives freely, yet gains even more; another withholds unduly, but comes to poverty.
A generous man will prosper; he who refreshes others will himself be refreshed.

I volunteer at our local Home and I am the one getting the rewards!
I love playing Bingo with them, reading to them, helping them write letters or
writing for them, but I also love to listen to them talk and tell about
    their “good old days”.
I just hope there will be volunteers around if I ever need them.
    Thanks to all Volunteers!
