Rwanda Murderer Asks For Forgiveness

At the end of the fourth century, the Roman Emperor Theodosius ordered the massacre of more than 7000 in revenge for the murder of a top military governor.

A short while afterwards, the bishop of Milan who had heard of the massacre, had a dream in which God instructed him to contact the emperor and advise him to repent publicly. As a result Theodosius performed several months of public penance.

In Matthew 18:21-22 we read:
21 Then Peter came to Jesus and asked, “Lord, how many times shall I forgive my brother or sister who sins against me? Up to seven times?”
22 Jesus answered, “I tell you, not seven times, but seventy-seven times.

In this video, we see a young woman from Rwanda forgive an unconscionable act.

She reminds us that no matter what injustice is done, it is not our place to judge.
Somehow in the darkness it is always imperative that we keep our eye on the light until it engulfs us.

As the woman in the video forgives the man who killed her children, can each of us forgive those who have hurt, betrayed and treated us badly?

Yes, with the help of the Lord Jesus Christ.

  5. ThirstforTruth says:

This is a beautiful video on the healing power of forgiveness….very much needed on today’s hurting world! To expand upon this read today’s gospel message in Luke 6:36-38.

It shows that there are still true Christians who have the Power and Spirit of Our Lord JESUS .Here in India a catholic nun’s family forgave the person who killed her and the Austrailian Missionary Graham Staines’s wife and daughter forgave the killers of her husband and children.THE LOVE, MESSAGE AND TRUE MEANING OF CHRISTIANITY SHOWN BY OUR LORD JESUS GOES ON

  7. Chommy says:

God is so merciful that he always forgive sin no matter what. When you come to HIM with a broken and repentance heart. Thank you JESUS for forgiving our sins because we are not righteous.

  8. Libnygp says:

When we truly repent and come to Jesus, He has the power and authority to say: “Your sins are forgiven, go and sin no more.” He also has the power to transform our lives and make us His temple. Is the presence of Jesus by His Spirit which enable us to enjoy a new life.
If we have debts with our neighbor as a consequence of living in sin, we should make restitution and humble ourselves asking them to forgive us.

My dear husband was also killed by a man with a machette. A man he helped but I know God forgives so we in turn should forgive those who hurt our loved ones. I have forgiven than man and still pray that he turns to the Lord. This has really hit “home”. Thank you and God’s blessings on your ministry.

Many times, it seems as though we in this geographical area of the United States and Canada leave such “silly flippant witnesses” when we’re out and about (that’s if we even witness!)

I’m not saying that we haven’t truly repented or truly experienced new life in Christ (only you and God can honestly answer that one), but here are extraordinary examples of repentance and forgiveness!

    “Go! And sin no more!”

  11. Mary says:

Forgiveness is very humbling. I, myself fight with it everyday. I pray that before I pass I can fully forgive those that have deeply hurt me and be finally at pease, and happy. This woman who has forgiven this man for killing her children has a faith that comes from deep belief that God IS real.

  12. June says:

This a lesson for all of us.
    Can we acheive such strength?
We, who live in America have
so much, but sometimes we are
very weak in expressing our faith.

  13. Santi says:

This is a another testimony of the power of God through the Gospel to change lives. May the Gospel continue to be spread…

  14. Michelle says:

Looks like actors to me. And if a man really did kill those people, what makes him think god has forgiven him? Wishful thinking.

  15. THE greatest courage is to forgive sins and mistakes of others………………………..
and THE greatest wisdom is to admit one’s sins & mistakes, immediately without expecting it from others

  18. Zehera Kassam says:

How can God forgive when this man have taken not one
but 4 lives. God only forgive you when you have committed a sin against him not other human.

  19. Libnygp says:

Zehera, will you please tell me which is your theological or Biblical basis for your statement that “God only forgive you when you have committed a sin against Him no other human,” or at least the source of your affirmation? Thanks.
