Going From Stuttering To Scatting – Scatman John

This fun, energetic and upbeat song is a worldwide favorite. It was written by a man who stuttered so bad as a child that he became afraid to talk.

John Park Larkman “Scatman John” liked to say that scatting was a process of “turning my biggest problem into my biggest asset”.

After becoming a piano player so that he could have something to hide behind, he wrote this song to inspire children who stuttered to overcome adversity.

It also serves as good motivation to get up and move your feet

I would like to watch this video about John Scatman the piano player but I can’t because it displays a screen message that says it’s blocked in my country on copyright grounds.

Never thought, that a link from a Christian newsletter that’s naturally believe oriented would ever be blocked. One more nail in the coffin of Christianity.

Maybe some day we even have to set back to the Roman times when Christians had to use the ‘fish’ symbol to reveal their identity to other Christians. Yet this will not stop Christians (including me) to believe in Him.

I am so sorry that this video is blocked in your country (not sure how many!!) as this is worth seeing. As a stutterer in her 50s, I’ve come a long way from that child who didn’t want to talk because of being made fun of. I remember my music teacher telling me to think about singing when I talk as one doesn’t stutter when they sing, do they? I’ve always remembered this. Thanks to this video and “The King’s Speech” for bringing this to light. Think of stuttering this way: it’s something we do, not who we are!!! God Bless,
