Happy Mother’s Day!

To ALL the mother’s……. Happy Mother’s Day!

For me Mother’s Day has always been especially meaningful. Of course I celebrate my own mother each Mother’s Day (who will turn 89!!! this week) but I am also reminded of my dad. My dad was born on Mother’s Day in 1917!

Sadly, shortly after his birth, his mother died. My dad was probably the sweetest and kindest man I have ever known. He was a very simple and grounded man and while he was living, I never fully realized just how much his mother meant to him despite the fact that he never knew her.

It’s rare that a child will share his birthday with the anniversary of a mother’s death but because of that his birthday was always a somber day for him.

Now, ironically, when my father’s mother was 12, my father’s future mother-in-law was born. Her name was Angelica and on the day Angelica turned 12 years old, my father was born. My dad met my mom in 1946 and for the next 45 years until his death, he and Angelica (who became his mother-in-law and the only grandmother I have ever known) shared and celebrated their birthdays together.

Ironically, again, my dad passed-on the day after Mother’s Day in 1991. He died on his 74th birthday and it seems that he returned to his own mother exactly 74 years after they parted. That was when I realized the depth of a child’s love for his/her mother. I also realized how much my dad loved my mom. He hung on for one last Mother’s Day – that was lucky for my mom – and my dad’s four daughters’. (I’m the 3rd *)

In this video the question is asked: What would the world look like without mothers? I think we all can imagine…

May God bless all mothers in the world: double portion for the godly ones who brought their children to love and obey God. for the “ordinary” mum may they be blessed with greater realization of the responsibility to be a mother.

Happy Mothers’ Day. Blessed Virgin Mary , Mother of God & us all, intercede for all mothers for grace to encourage them to do the will of God & show great love for their children as being great gifts to them by God. Thanks for sending me this email reminding me of what a great world it is with mothers! May God’s blessings be upon you all.

I was an adopted child. God could not have placed me with a better Mom. Unconditional Love, encouragment, Spritual guidence. She taught me how to be the best person I could be. She gave me independence, a strong will, and patience, abundantly.
My Mom died at the age of 87, in 1993, I still miss her every day of my life. I misses the phone calls, and going around for garage sales. She had a smile that lit up the world and patience of a saint. She loved her Lord God, and waits for me in her heavenly home.
I Love you Mom and wish you were still here. There are times when I long to hear your voice, and feel your arms around me.
