"The Penny Story – Count Your Blessings"
A few months ago, my wife and I where walking through the parking lot of our local grocery store. I looked down and saw a penny and walked right past it. For some reason, my mind dwelt on that silly little penny. Something kept telling me to pick it up. However, my pride kept telling me that someone might see me picking up pennies and think less of me.
We walked all the way to the entrance of the store and I told my wife to wait there for a moment. I ran back, picked up that penny and ran back to rejoin my wife. Perplexed, she asked what I did. I explained the little argument going on in my head between pride and wanting to pick up that penny. She paused silent for a moment and then asked to see the penny.
She held it up and smiled, then gave it back for me to put in my pocket as if I had found a great treasure.
While we shopped, the entire scene nagged at me. Finally, I could not stand it any longer. I had to ask my wife why she wanted to see the penny.
A smile crept across her face as she had me reach into my pocket again for the penny and hand it to her. She held it out for me to see. I had seen many pennies before! What was the point of this?
‘Look at it.’ she said. ‘Read what it says.’
I read the words ‘ United States of America ‘
‘No, not that; read further.’
‘One cent?’ ‘No, keep reading.’
‘In God we Trust?’ ‘Yes!’ ‘And?’
‘And if you trust in God, the name of God is holy, even on a coin.
So here is the lesson I learned that day from God and my Wife.
Whenever I find a coin I see that inscription. It is written on every single United States coin, but we never seem to notice it! God drops a message right in front of me telling me to trust Him? Who am I to pass it by? When I see a coin, I pray, I stop to see if my trust IS in God at that moment. I pick the coin up as a response to God; that I do trust in Him.
For a short time, at least, I cherish it as if it were gold. I think it is God’s way of starting a conversation with me. Lucky for me, God is patient and pennies are plentiful!
When I was out shopping today, I found a penny on the sidewalk. I stopped and picked it up, and realized that I had been worrying and fretting in my mind about things I cannot change. I read the words, ‘In God We Trust,’ and had to laugh. Yes, God, I get the message.
It seems that I have been finding an inordinate number of pennies in the last few months, but then, pennies are plentiful! And, God is patient…
Take a moment to let this sink in.
Count your blessings and you will see miracles happening in your life every single day. Keep this story on your mind and notice how many coins suddenly show up in your path, then take a moment to share with us.
This story was sent in by our good friend, "Ricky Brandon". Thank you Ricky. Be sure to leave a comment below if you enjoyed this story.

Thank you for that – I read it at a time of need, and I do believe that the good Lord provides everything you need when you need it.
My husband and I just returned home from a camping vacation. While we were at the camp ground, I saw a face up penny and I also debated whether or not to pick up that penny. I didn’t follow my instincts and therefore I didn’t pick up the penny. I was still thinking about that penny yesterday on our way home. It kind of haunted me that I didn’t pick up that penny! I think I understand why I felt like this after reading the Penny Story! Now I do know, that when I saw the penny, God was giving me his message also! It was a very trying vacation that didn’t go well and I should have picked up that penny and read the words: In God We Trust! Thank you so very much for such an awesome story! I will never pass by another penny without picking it up! : )
I believe firmly that good things should always spread to sustain against evil things, because they spread very fast, so, we time to time get messages from the almighty that you are not the doer, it is somebody else, you only have to work on behalf of him as if he is working.
Thanks for this nice story and makinf me a messenger og GOD.
I read a version of this on Friday and found a penny Sunday put it in my pocket. Heard a coin drop on my floor Sunday evening, couldn’t find it but found a penny on the bathroom rug this morning and get to work and open this us first thing this morning. Is God trying to tell me something?
I am from Malaysia so Malaysian coins do not have those wonderful words “In God We Trust”, but nonetheless I know God is always with me/all of us so each time I see a coin I will look around me for a kid and have him/her pick up the coin and tell them, it’s a gift from God; if I see no kids but a beggar, I will pick up the coin and put it in the beggar’s bowl and say: God Loves You.
That was a very inspirational story that opened my eye to a whole new blessing that god has for us everyday.
wonderful story.we can find true happiness if we put our trust on HIM.thank you Ricky for sharing this beautiful story.
we need to remind out governmant that god is still there.
we all need to be reminded that god is always there. out leaders need to be reminded that his name does not need to be hidden.
WOW! I am blown away at how many responses came from this story. I read each and every one of them and want to thank everyone for sharing. I have been turly touched by the comments.
I loved this story never looked at it that way always said see a penny pick it up it will bring a day of luck. Then my Mom passed now when I’m feeling down or upset & see a coin I know it’s from my Mom telling everthing will be fine & will work out she’s watching over me & so is GOD
I loved the penny story! I have my own little reminder from God and it happens very often. I asked God a while ago for little reminders to thank him and pray, and now whenver I see a clock that reads ex 11:11, or 12:12, 4:44, I immediately think of how God has blessed my life and I thank him. I notice it more and more everyday and am thankful for my “little reminders” from God, and I know he is always there watching over me and my family…thank you! Love your site by the way too! Great Graphics!
What an excellent story. Yes, God does remind us in small ways but the point is, it leaves a big impression. Being grateful and acknowleging it is a blessing within itself. God wants us to be aware of him at all times, no matter where we are or what we are doing. Tell God you are grateful, acknowledge his presence, praise him and watch what he will do in return, I practice this daily.
Thank you for sharing this with me! It is so very true and we need to do more of it…..put our trust in God! I stamp every piece of mail that leaves my house with that. I had the stamp made and bought the ink pad. I think we all should do this!!! Maybe if we do, we will get the word to all the people in the world because we never know who sees the mail that we send out and whom it might touch!! IN GOD WE TRUST!!! Amen and Amen!!!
Thanks for the early morning inspirational message reminding all of us of GODs aboundant blessings.
It was so nice reading the penny story. I just hope more websites will do the same. Thank you for such reminder of God’s abundant blessings.
Trust & Faith matters.nice story.
We can only be enriched from a story like this and reflect on all the things that we have and all the things that we receive for God is in all things Big and Small. Rino.
This was s great story. Thanks for reminding us that God is always with us even in the smallest things as a Penny.
Thanks for sharing this story. We so often forget to be grateful for what we have been given. This is a great reminder of how God Works !!
Very inspiring! It’s a timely reminder to “Have Faith & Trust in God” Never take things for granted no matter how small. Thanks for the beautiful story. God bless you.
Praise God for Ricky Brandon’s precious wife who knew immediately what the Holy Spirit was trying to tell him. Most often behind a Godly man is a Holy Spirit lead Godly woman filling in the gaps.
Awesome story. We should take more time to thank God for all the things he keep doing for us.
Jack
yes it very true that god is watching us every moment of life, the way we do our deeds. so dear friends pls remember honesty always pays, should always do good deeds. thanx ricky may god bless you. Take care.
It’s very true and i have liked it, the story has touched my soul and i pray the glory of OUR GOD AND HIS ONLY SON SHINES WITHIN US ALWAYS!!! Thank you Ricky !! God bless you in all and always> with love from Jesca of Uganda.
Ricky,
You are da man! Your story has changed my life. I now find hundreds of pennies every day some how but they are in the form of dollars. And I used to throw pennies away but now I keep them and save them.
Thank you for this amazing story, God Bless you all!
Steve
Wow, something so small could leave such a big message. I believe that as long as the words In God We Trust remains on the Us Currency/money, the US will always prosper. If the ones that fought to have prayer taken out of schools are successful at having the words removed from the money, the US will become like some other countries.
Yes, a good reflection to human Pride and Prejudice
It’s true that Pride always takes over us. When we see how humble God is willing to dwell in the corner of the material world being unnoticed, we should put aside our pride to face our reality and never miss any chance to pick up anything God gives us with our values as to thank God’s grace and love.
When I was studying in England, my friends always told me that we could easily find coins spreading over in the street without being picked. Did people treasure the value of a penny?
When I was young, I developed a habit of saving a coin in my clay safe day by day. When I saved my coins up to nine dollars, I would ask my father for a ten dollar note. Small saving though, it was my way I multiplied my money. It’s just that little gesture, God helps me sow my seeds in the interest of economy even though I have been doing pure humanities throughout my studies.
Now I have been suffering from redundancy for a few years because of the tainted reports from the irresponsible young appraising officers, I learn to pray and keep prayer to God earnestly. Close to God makes me warm and humble. Being a legionary is to serve the needs with humble heart with prayers and active work if I can.
If my former appraising officers would know and realize the values of pennies, she would not take away my working power and make me penniless. Though I still keep my pride of not taking dole money or picking up 10 cents coin from the street, I am strong enough to keep going and never give up hope, love and joy. I know God wants us happy and be happy be in our own way!
THIE CONFIRMS ONCE AGAIN THAT MY BAPAJI MY GURU IS WITH ME AND CONNECTING ME WITH ALLTHE SPIRTUAL PEOPLE LIKE YOU ALL
THANK YOU VERY MUCH
woderful story… it’s one more reminder that god is wonderfl…..
Beautifully written. ‘The wife’s ‘expression’ whilst shopping, the ‘character battle about pride or ‘somebody thinking lowly about the person seen picking up a penny. The ‘urgencey about picking the penny up’ implying something’s causing the urgencey. The specifics guiding the ‘reader’ gracefully = beautifully written. The coins depicting America trusting about God looking after America, and Americans.
I pray i will also think more about God when i see coins.

Funny that I should see this as my pastor says that everytime she sees a penny on the ground she picks it up and repeats the words “In God I trust!”
This is a beautiful reminder to ALL of us!
What hope do we have if we don’t put our trust completely in God?
Many blessings to everyone!
Mary
it is really amazing that in things that we think is worthless, there we can feel most God’s love

Thanks for that importent story and message. Here in DK I´ve also learned to beleave and trust The Lord Jesus Christ. I´m living and breathing in Him, so wy should I be worried? – No, He is trust-worthy! God bless you, friends!
This story was sent to me. I had known about the Penny and its message on it. So, I was going to ignore it, but I was feeling low and wanting/needing some kind of comfort…here it was in my e-mail. I always pick up the penny I see and then again sometimes I leave thinking it will be there for some one who needs it more than I do that day. Someone who needs to know that God is there for us and to trust him. I have a bucket with pennies in it some coming from my change and others from the ones I’ve found…I just need to see the bucket and see the countless blessings the Lord has blessed me so I won’t forget to continue to trust in Him.
The Bible says that if we keep quiet the stones will cry out. In this
case it is the coins. PTL
It is amazing we have so many blessing on us but our mind is not lokin’ at it. we ignor or don’t appreciate on what God gave us, but we complain on what we don’t have. for me this messege is a wake up call. thank you for the messege.
Well, its Pennies which makes Pound ….let us be happy in what we get and there will be no need to count…He is omnipresent and omnipotent. We can never measure His Blessings.

Sharon Says:
Good Evening Ricky,
You would be surprized at just how many pennies, nickels, dimes, but mostly pennies I have found in my life time, just walking along. I have always called them My Pennies From Heaven. What a sweet story. May God Bless And Keep You And Your Family Forever.
Sincerely,
Sharon
Thank you Ricky once again for such an inspirational message. But thank god also to your beloved wife who pointed out the saying and having in her heart God. Thank you for feeling his word and for sharing it with us all. I will definitely share this message and it’s meaning with my family and grandkids. With much loving gratefulness to both you and your wonderful wife! Good evening. I do not have a computer home, but though I am at work I am off hours – I should of been home a long time ago and as I read today’s new inspiring message I glanced at the right side where past messages have been placed and saw yours once again. Though it had inspired me before I did not pay close attention like this evening. I will always pick up pennies and be gratefule and thank our lord for his message. God Bless you both.
