And we wanted to include this touching note we received from one of our readers. It’s unedited and raw, eminently sincere:

I don’t know if you print all emails you receive but my Mom is one really special person. My father was killed in a tragic accident when I was 3 and I think she was 23 and she had two children to raise. She never dated for 8 years then at a revival at church one nite she meet my “Daddy”….the only one I ever really knew and took us in as his own. They were happily married for many years and then he got Parkinsons and became very ill at the last. She had been babysitting many children in our community and had also taken care of him . He was an accountant and she also took up his business and has done well. She is a STAR! Sometimes she still gets on me…and I am 47 years old but I love her dearly and respect her so much! She homeschools my daughter that has scoliosis and Type 1 diabetes everyday as well. I am so blessed to have her and I wish you could print something about my Mom. All the kids call her Mama Glenna that she took care of and my daughter calls her Nana. She is MY MOM! I am so proud of her and love her so much. She is so strong and has given me so much strength through some difficult times.

I couldn’t find enough adjectives to describe my late mother with all the love and sacrifices she had given us when she was still with us. We owe her so much that the only way for us to repay her is to do the same to our own children. We pay tribute to all the wonderful mothers all over the world. Happy Mother’s Day to all mothers.

  9. Simone Griffin says:

You never know what you have in a mother until they are gone. The endless love, worry, prayers, cares and tears. I lost my mum two years ago and I never did get the chance to tell her how sorry I was for being such a bratt all those years and for all the unnessary arguments which now mean absolutely nothing. Praise God we made up two years before she went home because now as a mother myself I know what a wonderful, wonderful mother she was. Make the time to make up before it’s too late. Good mothers are too precious to loose. I miss my mum.

  10. julie Sapien says:

    Wow!

Sometimes I think I have it pretty bad. Compared to Glenna and her life, I am ashamed of my attitude.

God Bless this family! What a family story of tears, but, also of endurance and strength!

It’s true, the Lord takes us through the fire and brings us out refined, stronger and better than ever!

In Glenna’s case, I believe she is still being refined, only because God knows she loves Him (as Job did) and she is strong enough to to go through this transformation. He is preparing her for an awesome and a specific purpose!

The Lord loves you Glenna and He dwells with you, He is your strength and refuge!

  11. Bett Gold says:

My heart melts every time I think of Motherhood. Since I became the president of our church’s Mothers’ Fellowship organization, I began to fully realized the importance and essence of being a mother. I could say that I have loved my mother more than before. I have understood her mood swings, sacrifices, and her longing to be appreciated and cared for.
I wish that every son and daughter would also give back the love and respect that their mother deserves; that they would come to realize their being discourteous and insensitive when it comes to dealing with them; that it’s about time to let their Moms fell their concern. They are just human … vulnerable and not perfect.
However we may call our mothers: Mommy, Mama, Inay, Nanay, Mamang and so on…. what’s important is we still have the values, love and respect towards them; that no matter what happens we will always be here – to talk, to listen, to help and to guide until the last breathe of their lives. We can never bring back the times but still we can do something more. It’s up to you to think about it. LOVE YOUR MOM!
