Pennies for Peace: The Story

In this delightful story told by Amira Mortenson, we learn about her adventurous father Greg.

A twist of fate on the 2nd highest mountain in the world, K2, changed his goal of reaching the peak to
building schools all over the world with just pennies.

Greg’s new goal became his mission and as of 2009 his International Program has established or significantly supports 131 schools in rural and often volatile regions of Pakistan and Afghanistan.

Greg Mortenson has chronicled his work in his book “Three Cups Of Tea”.

At this most holiest time of the year, I was truely inspired by the love and dedication of this special Angel, Greg. What a wonderful personal outreach to
help children become schooled allowing them a future. May God bless Greg, his daughter and followers in this journey….and all for pennies.
Pray that his message will be received with the Grace of God encouraging everyone to unselfishly give their gifts, be it just pennies and hopefully more.

I have been a Mortensen fan since first reading the book 2 years ago. How wonderful to find one’s calling in such a worthwhile endeavor. I especially like the human faces Greg puts on the people of his countries. They really aren’t much different than parents in this country…they want what is best for their children and they are willing to sacrifice to do so.

  7. I am glad things work out the way they did for Greg he wanted to get to the top of the mountain. But God had his destiny and his calling already work out for him, and he new that because of what he did when he got back home sold all his things to do the job that was given to him to do.i just wanted to say Greg you have reach the top of that mountian in my book. you lost and you gain more the love of all those people you help. keep up the good works, may God grant unto you all your heart desire. love Anthea

  8. Loved the positive attitude, and the support from the different areas.Well done Gregg, and all participants.
