Randy Pausch – Last Lecture

Sometimes in life it can be difficult to think of our demise.

Randy Pausch was an upbeat Carnegie Mellon professor in 2006 with a very young family when he was confronted head on wilth an illness (pancreatic cancer) that took his life within two years. He was a man who had – up to that time – lived his entire life to the fullest.

When he initially learned of his illness he decided not only to continue on that path but to leave some words of wisdom for his children. We are very fortunate that he decided to share his philosophy with the rest of us.

Not all of us will leave behind a legacy the way Randy Pausch did, but we can follow in his footsteps and learn from his postive attitude. Just being kind and lending a listening ear once in a while is enough to leave our own long lasting legacy.

There is a well circulated quote: “People may not remember exactly what you did, or what you said, but they will always remember how you made them feel.”

I invite you to listen to this abbreviated version of Randy Pausch’s “Last Lecture” speech. If you find the time someday, I think you will enjoy the full “hour-plus” version.

I hope you will leave a comment on how Randy’s message has inspired you to re-think your own legacy.

Wonderfully inspiring video of a snip it of a life well-lived. Though Randy has been gone for about 2 years, his brilliance lives on thru’ this video, his children, and the countless thousands or more who’ve had the pleasure of his acquaintance, either in person or thru’ his work. Hopefully many Eyeores have been transformed into Tiggers to live a better life. He definitely paid it forward! It’s up to us to follow suit! Thanks for the opportunity to view this video
    !

Randy is a gifted inspirational speaker. You cannot listen to this video without feeling inspired. At the end I realized what a strong, fortunate, intelligent man Randy is, and about the right choices he made (and we should also make) in order to have a great life. However, I’d have liked to hear a bit about God somewhere. A little about spiritual growth.

  9. Samuel C. Iacano says:

This is a testimony to the way that we Christians should be living – one day at a time. In the world that we live in, this is not the case. We see that it is and he shows us how we are supposed to live. He who had the gift of knowing that he would soon be dead LIVED. May God have mercy on his soul and may his message be remembered by many people who need it when it is time to go home to Jesus or just how to live.

  20. Cherrie Acda says:

This video with a very powerful message came to me at a very opportune time when I needed to hear something positive, hopeful, and most of all courageous. My father had been diagnosed with malignant cancer in June 1st of 2010. Since then, his life and ours have never been the same. We bonded even strongly as a family. We cried together, made important decisions with/for dad, we laughed with him, we cheered for him, and sat, and prayed with him. We were even scared for him. These feelings although all about dad are also reflections of how we feel about ourselves. Sad, hopeful, happy, afraid, prayerful but most of all, faithful and loving. This video is an awesome and inspiring document of a life well-lived. I will share it with my family. Thank you so much for sharing! Moving forward, I would like to be better! Thanks again!

  24. Crystal says:

The video has a very powerful message that came to me at a very opportune time when I needed to hear something positive, hopeful, and most of all courageous. My mother had been diagnosed with cancer in May of 2010. Not only that we had a death in the family just before our mom was diagnosed which was and still hard to deal with. Since then, her life and ours have never been the same. We cried together, made important decisions with/for her, we laughed with her, we cheered for her, and sat, with her. We were even scared for her. These feelings although all about mom are also reflections of how we feel about ourselves. Sad, hopeful, happy, afraid, prayerful but most of all, faithful and loving. This video is an awesome and inspiring document of a life well-lived. I will share it with my family. Thank you so much for sharing! Thanks again!

  25. Lise says:

Quite the message. My husband is a 10 year, stage 3, thyroid cancer survivor. I understand what his wife went through at the time of diagnosis and following. Randy showed alot of strength. I hope that if he wasn’t a believer at the time of his making the video, that he accepted the Lord before he died. I also pray that his wife is a believer now or comes to the Lord. Again, such a powerful and true message. Thank you for sharing the video.

  26. ZITA LIM says:

  27. Tikkie says:

Praise GOD for the Life of Randy and his message

  28. Charles Oni says:

The inspiration from the performance of these two physically challenged people is that God has not forgotten anyone. God promised to bless us through our gifts, and down deep there, God has planted something through which, no matter the disability, we could still excel and shine out even though physically or mentally, we may seem down. In all, God is greater than man.

  29. AL says:

I was saddened by his situation but uplifted by his fighting attitude. Often times, we forget what matters to us most until we lose it. He was wise pointing out things vs. people. To me, a thing can give us lasting memories if it was shared or given by the people we love. Without this connection, its meaning is lost..

  30. Leela Pestana says:
