You are richer than 75% of the world.

You are among the top 8% of the world’s wealthy.

If you woke up this morning with more health than illness,

You are more blessed than the million people who will not survive this week.

If you have never experienced the danger of battle, the agony of imprisonment, or torture, or the horrible pangs of starvation,

You are luckier than 500 million people alive and suffering.

If you can read this message you are more fortunate than 3 billion people in the world who cannot read it at all.

Steve Jobs passed away October 5th. Steve’s brilliance, passion and energy were the source of countless innovations that enrich and improve all of our lives. The world is immeasurably better because of Steve.

“Your work is going to fill a large part of your life, and the only way to be truly satisfied is to do what you believe is great work. And the only way to do great work is to love what you do. If you haven’t found it yet, keep looking. Don’t settle. As with all matters of the heart, you’ll know when you find it. In this video, e a dolphin is making and playing with “ring bubbles”! It’s rare to see this, scuba divers know how to make ring bubbles, but to get to watch a dolphin playing this way is something special, like a gift.

When witnessing these amazing moments it’s easy to be reminded of the beauty in our world and in beauty we can always find God.

Every good present and every perfect gift comes from above, from the Father who made the sun, moon, and stars. The Father doesn’t change like the shifting shadows produced by the sun and the moon. James 1:17

It’s exciting to watch a young person use a gift that seems heaven sent. Jackie Evancho is one of those persons.

Back in 2004 Jackie’s parents took her to see the movie Phantom Of The Opera and Jackie was mesmerized. This might not seem unusual, however, Jackie was only 4 years old in 2004!

Jackie’s mother said that after she bought the DVD of the movie; “something ignited inside Jackie”. She began singing the songs all on her own.

At first her parents didn’t give too much thought to her singing but after she began to enter talent contests (and win) they began to realize that their daughter’s voice was something remarkable.

Since then Jackie won the Runner Up spot in the 5th season of America’s Got Talent and has recorded with Susan Boyle (a former contestant on Britain’s Got Talent) and the infamous Barbra Streisand!

In this video we can now be the lucky ones who are mesmerized.

A fascinating find was discovered outside Jerusalem, in 1979. Inside an old tomb were found two silver scrolls “by accident” . The tomb had previously been raided. It was only when a young teen was asked to clean up the tomb that the scrolls were found.

Miraculously, due to recent technology the metal scrolls were able to be unrolled and read. It was a very pleasant surprise to find that a verse from a scripture in Numbers 6 was inscribed on them!

It seems more than coincidental that these two scrolls would be found in a cave that previously had been looted and at a time when only modern day technology would allow the unraveling (and readability) of their metal that dates back to 700 B.C.

One might think of them as little “Golden Nuggets” just waiting to be found….

This group of “a capella” singers generates a lot of excitement when they perform.

The Voca People are a 100% vocal group who perform without the aid of even one instrument to help them in creating the sounds of an entire orchestra!

They use not only their talented vocal range , but add facial expressions, active body movements and unique costumes to create a fun time.

Their motto is: “Life is music and music is life” and they absolutely embody that.

It has been pondered; what if a famous painting (let’s choose the Mona Lisa) were to be taken out of its frame and hung on a wall (let’s pretend in a café) … would anyone really notice its beauty?

That wonderment was put to the test late last year when the Violist Joshua Bell stood near a trash can in the Metro Station in Washington D.C. and played to the morning subway riders.

For those of you who might be unfamiliar, Joshua Bell was a child prodigy by the age of 14. To give even a short list of his accomplishments would fill pages and pages. Last year he was named by Musical America as the 2010 Instrumentalist of the Year – a truly prestigious honor.

As you see in this video there is a lesson to be learned. As we go through our very busy days, we should try seeing the world with a child’s eyes. Maybe, we should not only stop and Smell The Roses but also, we should stop and see the roses too.

Many times we miss what is right in front of us. Try seeing with new eyes today. You just might be surprised by something truly spectacular!

We all know that light travels – we measure distance in space by “light years”. Just as fascinating, sound travels as well via sound waves or “vibration”.

The 3rd verse of the Bible states “God said, Let there be light and there was light.” We can only imagine the enormous vibration of God’s Word that continues to this very day.

As we see in this video, vibration is a part of us and what we give our attention to echoes within our bodies.

We can choose to hold onto anger, resentment (and possibly illness) or we can choose to harbor forgiveness and love and well being.

The next time you find yourself thinking an ill thought, stop immediately and, instead, thank God for his Light that continues to vibrate through you and this world.

Despite the calamities that will always surround us, God is very much alive and in his Word we can find comfort.

I’ve always been fascinated by the human body but mostly by the brain. To me it is one of God’s most incredible creations. I like the brain because through it, we can change.

A teacher of mine once shared with me that the simple act of smiling actually changes the shape of the face!

But even more than that, studies have proven that it is our experiences more than our genetics that play a bigger part in who we become.

The key to utilizing the brain is to continue to challenge it (keep learning!) in order for it to keep its plasticity.

Romans 10:17 states:

So faith comes from hearing, that is, hearing the Good News about Christ.

Genetics gave us the ability to hear and to read, but what we choose to hear and read (experiences) is what will give us the strength to meet each day with courage.

I encourage you to spend time in the Word – it’s life changing!

My first experience with growing potatoes happened to me as a young child.

My mother had a garden and for as long as I can remember, she would save all eggshells and all of the peelings from our fruits and vegetables and throw them into her “mulch” pit along with shredded newspapers. She would then cover them with a blanket of lawn clippings.

Every summer she would toss her mulch much like a salad and then sprinkle it all over her flower and vegetable gardens. I always thought that potatoes were the sneakiest of all the plants in my mother’s gardens because a few times they grew from the peelings in her mulch and not because she planted them. It was always a surprise when we would dig one up!

Recently, I watched the movie “Faith like Potatoes” and it reminded me of that time in my life. I thought that if you haven’t heard of or seen that movie, then you should definitely consider watching it.

Faith like Potatoes is based on the true story of a Scottish African. “Angus”, a Scotsman who was born and raised in South Africa, was raising his family in Zambia when political unrest caused him to move his family to South Africa. The move was difficult and Angus’ hot temper seemed to be getting worse and worse as things seemed to be going from bad to worse.

One day his wife practically dragged him to church and to Angus’ surprise… he turned his life and his family’s life over to Christ. Soon after that things began to change for the better. He experienced true miracles and as a result he began to hold his own revivals.

After experiencing a devastating loss his faith was put to the test. Once again Angus felt despair and once again it was his faith that turned his life around once again.
